Clear demarcation of FME zones
FME stands for Foreign Material Exclusion and is used in areas where it is particularly important to prevent foreign objects from entering. An FME zone can, for example, be established around sensitive equipment, machinery or open systems where tools, loose objects, dirt or other materials could cause damage, downtime or safety risks.
FME zones are found, amongst other places, in nuclear power stations, power stations, the aviation industry and heavy manufacturing, where control over objects and materials in the work area is a key part of safety management.
Beltrac® barrier tape marked ‘FME ZONE’ makes it easy to create a clear physical and visual boundary. The marking immediately indicates that the area is subject to specific FME procedures and helps to alert staff and visitors that access and the bringing in of items must be controlled.
