A basic introduction to ‘Break & Lock’ and health and safety at work
This introductory course will give you an introduction to ‘Cut Off & Lock Out’, also known as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and explain why the correct procedures are crucial when working with machinery and equipment. You will learn how the method is used to prevent accidental start-up and reduce the risk of accidents during, for example, servicing, maintenance and repairs.
The course covers how to identify and secure different energy sources prior to carrying out work. You will also be given an introduction to legal requirements, health and safety, and the key principles of the ‘Cut-off and Lock-out’ procedure. Clear procedures and defined responsibilities are a vital part of health and safety work. The course also explains why the right equipment needs to be combined with standard working practices that are followed in practice.
The course is delivered online via our learning platform, Collinder Care, and includes videos, written content and knowledge-based questions. The course concludes with a knowledge test and, upon passing, you will receive a digital certificate.
