What is high visibility labelling?

Warning labels are a standardised system of symbols (hazard pictograms) used to draw attention to risks and hazards in industries, buildings and public places. The symbols are simple and clear so that they can be understood even without accompanying text. The purpose of warning signs is to make people aware of the risks in the environment in order to prevent accidents. Warning labels are divided into several subcategories for clear labelling:

  • Warning
  • Prohibition
  • Orders
  • fire
  • Emergency
  • CLP/GHS

Warning labelling according to current standards

In Sweden, signage and labelling are based on the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation AFS 2023:10 and CLP/GHS. In the 2015 update, the Swedish Work Environment Authority chose to retain the previous symbols from AFS 2008:13, with the exception of yellow warning signs relating to chemical risks. These are replaced by the corresponding hazard pictograms according to CLP/GHS. To ensure correct and clear warning labelling, it is recommended to use CLP/GHS pictograms in accordance with AFS 2023:12. We help you to choose signs that fulfil the applicable standards.
