Lockout & tagout
Cut & Lock, or Lockout/Tagout as it is also known, is an important safety measure that can help prevent accidents during maintenance and repairs. By switching off and locking the equipment's energy sources, you can ensure that no one can inadvertently switch the equipment on or off during work.

A safe and secure workplace with Collinder's Break & Lock
Collinder has been actively working to introduce Lockout/Tagout to the Swedish market for 20 years. We take our products mainly from the USA, where the term Lockout/Tagout originates.

Why use Break & Lock?
- Controls hazardous energy.
- Safer working during maintenance, downtime, repairs and cleaning.
- Prevents bodily harm.
- Prevents damage to equipment and facilities.
- Increased security against your own and others' mistakes.
- Everyone pays attention to the procedure.

How does Break & Lock work?
The Break & Lock procedure consists of three steps:
- Identify all energy sources that may be relevant to the work. This may include electricity, compressed air, hydraulics, gas, etc.
- Switch off the energy. This can be done by switching off switches, disconnecting plugs, closing valves, etc.
- Once the energy has been cut off, it is important to lock it so that no one can accidentally start or switch on the equipment. This can be done using padlocks, seals or other locking systems.
7 things to consider when choosing a padlock
- What are the locks for? Padlocks are used for electrical or mechanical process interruptions. The material and size of the lock housing and shackle, among other things, have a bearing on this.
- In what environment should the locks be used? We have locks for most environments, whether indoors or outdoors, or for use in aggressive environments or explosive atmospheres
- What colour should the locks be? Lockout padlocks should be distinguished from ordinary padlocks and therefore have distinct colours. They are available in several colours, for example, so that people in a work team can be distinguished. Add the colour code below to the end of the lock's article number when you order.
- How should the locks be labelled? Padlocks can be labelled with a warning label and a label with the name of the user. We can also engrave directly into the lock case so that the labelling is permanent and no confusion can occur. The key is then fitted with a tag with the same marking.
- How many people should be able to lock and open? In most cases for Break & Lock, the One Person - One Key principle applies. This means that padlocks with different locks should be chosen for all staff, both permanent and contract, who will work with Break & Lock. Future needs should also be assessed. We can supply locks with different locks for each user. No risk of lock and key duplication - we have locks with 44,000 uniquely different lockings!
- What type of locking is needed? Do you want the locks to have different locks so that each lock can only be opened by a specific key? Or do you want groups with equal locking so that all locks in a group can be opened by all keys in the group? There are the following types of locking and item codes:
- Different locking = Keyed Different (KD) = Not specified.
- Keyed Alike = KA.
- Master key (and over-master key) = Master Key = MK.
- Master key multiple systems with equal locking = KAMK.
- Register keys for the future. Think about the future when you order. We can register your locks and keys free of charge so that you can later add locks to match your existing ones like this: New locks with different keys to match your existing master key. New locks with the same locking mechanism as before. New different locks that are guaranteed not to have a duplicate of any previously delivered lock.
